Many guides still describe Morph as a consumer Layer 2 that is “about to launch a token”. That picture is out of date. Morph ran its points seasons, paid participants in BGB rather than in a new token, became the home chain of Bitget’s BGB, and has since repositioned itself as a blockchain and platform for stablecoin payments. If you farmed Morph in 2024 or 2025, or are being told there is a fresh “Morph token claim”, this guide sets out what actually happened, what rewards exist now and how to avoid the claim scams that follow every change of direction.
From consumer L2 to payments chain
Morph launched as an Ethereum Layer 2 that combined optimistic rollup design with zero-knowledge proofs and promoted a decentralized sequencer. Its early marketing focused on consumer apps, with Bitget as a major backer.
Two changes reshaped the project:
- BGB became Morph’s native token. In September 2025, Bitget announced it would transfer the 440 million BGB it controlled to the Morph Foundation. Half, 220 million, was burned immediately. The other 220 million was locked with a 2% monthly release to fund liquidity incentives, ecosystem development and education. BGB was established as the gas and governance token of Morph, and the burn mechanism was to be tied to Morph network activity. Morph now publishes quarterly BGB burn reports; its Q2 2026 report cited 3,010,400 BGB removed from circulation.
- The product focus moved to payments. The project’s site moved from morphl2.io to morph.network, and it now describes itself as a platform for businesses to accept, send and convert stablecoin payments. Morph Payments went live in August 2026, later adding support for Solana and TRON stablecoins, and Morph joined the Mastercard Crypto Partner Program in September 2026. The Morph Chain is presented as a blockchain purpose-built for payments, advertising around 0.3-second block finality and very low per-transaction fees.
The practical upshot: there is no separate “MORPH” token to wait for. When people talk about Morph’s token today, they mean BGB.

How the Morph points seasons worked
Testnet and Season 1
Morph’s early program rewarded testnet users and then mainnet participants with points shown in the Morph Zoo dashboard. Testnet Season 1 points became claimable in late 2024, around the time Season 2 started on mainnet.
Season 2: The Great Token Migration
Season 2 ran from December 20, 2024 to August 1, 2025. Its goal was to bring liquidity onto Morph mainnet. Points came from four sources: bridging assets to Morph, spending gas on Morph, referring new users, and special partner events such as the Bitget Wallet campaign. The bridging score was time-weighted, with Morph using the formula 1 score equals 1 ETH held for 1 day.
The Unity Airdrop: paid in BGB
Instead of minting a new token, Morph rewarded its community through the Morph Unity Airdrop, paid in BGB. Morph announced it on September 23, 2025. The eligibility checker opened that day, claims began on September 25 and the window closed on October 25, 2025. Eligible groups included Morph Zoo point holders, Zootosis participants, the top 500 XP holders in Morph Hub, Morph Hub referral point holders, and Morph creators and ambassadors. Distribution followed a progressive curve for both gas-based rewards (measured by actual ETH spent on Morph) and points from TVL, campaigns and referrals, so early and smaller contributions earned slightly higher rates than very large ones.
That claim window is closed. If you missed it, there is no official late-claim route that we have been able to find.
What rewards exist on Morph now
At the time of writing, Morph has not announced a new points season. Rewards on the chain today look more like ordinary DeFi yield and ecosystem incentives:
- Yield vaults built with Gauntlet and Morpho. Launched at the end of July 2026, these vaults on Morph are offered to Bitget users, with a bgBTC strategy available through Bitget Exchange and a USDC strategy through Bitget Wallet. Reported launch yields were high on the USDC side and low single digits on bgBTC; those rates are variable and include incentives.
- BGB ecosystem incentives. The 220 million locked BGB releases 2% per month for liquidity incentives and ecosystem growth, so campaigns funded from that pool may appear. Watch Morph’s blog and X account for specifics.
- Payments, not farming. Morph Payments targets merchants, payroll and B2B use. It is not a points program, and business onboarding with email sign-up is not an airdrop task.
How to use Morph today, step by step
- Start at morph.network. The old morphl2.io domain redirects there. Bookmark the new domain so you are not relying on redirects.
- Bridge only through official routes. Morph’s site links to bridge.morph.network. Confirm the bridge URL from the site menu rather than from a search result.
- Hold some BGB for gas. Because BGB is Morph’s gas token, transactions on the chain need it. Check the network settings in your wallet against Morph’s docs.
- If you want yield, use the vault entry points Morph and Bitget announced. Read the strategy page for the curator (Gauntlet), the underlying markets (Morpho) and how withdrawals work.
- Record what you did. Keep transaction hashes for bridges and deposits. If a future campaign uses on-chain history, a clean record is useful; if it does not, you still have tax and accounting records.
Risks specific to Morph
- Token concentration and supply. BGB’s value depends heavily on Bitget’s ecosystem. The 220 million locked BGB releases monthly, adding supply that offsets some of the burns.
- Bridge and rollup risk. Funds bridged to Morph depend on its bridge contracts and on the chain’s ability to process withdrawals back to Ethereum.
- Vault strategy risk. Morpho-based vaults involve lending, collateral and oracle risk. Gauntlet curation reduces but does not eliminate it, and high early APYs usually fall as TVL grows.
- Strategic drift. Morph has already changed focus once. Activity that was rewarded in a consumer-chain era may not count in a payments-focused program.
- Exchange dependence. Several current yield products are accessed through Bitget’s exchange or wallet, which brings that platform’s terms, KYC and regional restrictions.

How to spot fake Morph claims
Morph’s domain change and its move to BGB create ideal cover for phishing. Keep these anchors in mind: the main site is morph.network, documentation is at docs.morph.network, the bridge is bridge.morph.network, the blog is blog.morph.network, and the X account linked from the site is @MorphNetwork (older posts and guides reference @MorphL2). The Unity Airdrop claim ran on morph.bgw.world, a Bitget Wallet domain, and is closed.
- “MORPH token claim” pages. Morph uses BGB; there is no separate MORPH token announced. A page offering one is fake.
- “Season 2 late claim” or “Unity Drop round 2”. The Unity window closed on October 25, 2025, and no second round has been announced.
- Old-domain lookalikes. Variants of morphl2 with extra words, hyphens or different endings are a common trick now that the real site has moved.
- Payments “verification” emails. Morph Payments uses email sign-up for businesses. An email asking you to connect a wallet or enter a seed phrase to “verify your merchant account” is phishing.
- BGB “migration” requests. BGB did not require holders to swap tokens because of the Morph move. Any site asking you to “migrate BGB to Morph” by signing approvals should be avoided.
FAQ
Does Morph have its own token?
Morph’s gas and governance token is BGB, following Bitget’s transfer of 440 million BGB to the Morph Foundation in September 2025.
How were Morph Zoo points rewarded?
Through the Morph Unity Airdrop, paid in BGB, with claims open from September 25 to October 25, 2025.
Is there a Morph Season 3?
Morph has not announced one at the time of writing. Current incentives come through yield vaults and BGB ecosystem programs.
Is morphl2.io still official?
It redirects to morph.network, which is now the primary domain. Use the new domain directly.
Verdict
Morph’s points era has been settled: Season 2 ended in August 2025 and contributors were paid in BGB through a claim that closed in October 2025. Today Morph is a payments chain tied closely to Bitget, and its rewards look like yield and ecosystem incentives rather than an airdrop race. Anyone promising a fresh Morph token claim is selling a story the project itself has moved past.
