Resolv ran one of the more generous points programs in DeFi: four seasons, a token airdrop and steady boosts for anyone holding its USR stablecoin or the riskier RLP token. Then, on March 22, 2026, an attacker minted about 80 million unbacked USR, the peg collapsed, and the protocol shut down into recovery mode. Six months later the recovery claim window has closed, the foundation has launched a new business line, and the points era looks finished. This guide covers how Resolv’s rewards worked, what the exploit and recovery meant for holders, and what remains at the time of writing.
How Resolv’s stablecoin was designed
Resolv issued USR, a dollar-pegged stablecoin backed mainly by ETH and BTC rather than by bank deposits. To keep the backing stable in dollar terms, the protocol hedged its crypto collateral with short perpetual futures positions, making the portfolio roughly delta-neutral. Yield came from staking rewards on the collateral and from funding payments on the shorts.
Risk was split into two tranches:
- USR was the senior tranche, meant to stay at $1 and pay a moderate yield when staked (as stUSR or wrapped wstUSR).
- RLP, the Resolv Liquidity Pool token, was the junior tranche. It took first loss if hedging or counterparties failed, and in return earned a leveraged share of the yield.
The governance token, RESOLV, launched in June 2025. The official site is resolv.xyz and the documentation, including the recovery pages, is at docs.resolv.xyz.

How Resolv points worked, season by season
Resolv Points rewarded holding and deploying USR and RLP. Each season had its own share of the RESOLV supply:
| Season | Period | Allocation |
|---|---|---|
| Season 1 | Program launch to early May 2025 | 10% of supply (100 million RESOLV) |
| Season 2 | May 9 to September 9, 2025 | 5% of supply |
| Season 3 | September to December 2025 | 3% of supply |
| Season 4 | Scheduled December 9, 2025 to April 9, 2026 | 2.5% of supply |
The Season 2 rules give a clear picture of the mechanics. Holding USR or RLP earned 20 points per dollar per day, staked USR earned 5, and activity in partner protocols such as lending markets and liquidity pools earned between 5 and 45 depending on the integration. Several multipliers stacked on top: 25% for Blueprint NFT holders, 20% for new users joining through a referral, 10% for Season 1 participants, 10% for “early believers” from before mid-December 2024, and up to 100% for staking RESOLV. The RESOLV boost scaled with the value of staked tokens relative to the user’s tracked activity.
The structure encouraged people to hold RLP for its points rate. That turned out to matter a great deal once losses had to be allocated.
The March 2026 exploit
On March 22, 2026, an attacker gained control of the private key behind Resolv’s SERVICE_ROLE, an off-chain signer hosted in an AWS KMS environment that authorised minting. With it, they minted around 80 million USR against roughly $300,000 of real collateral and swapped the unbacked tokens into about $25 million of ETH through DeFi pools. USR fell as low as a few cents in some pools before partially recovering. Chainalysis traced the loss to the compromised key rather than a flaw in the core contracts.
Resolv Labs paused the protocol. The foundation also suspended RESOLV staking and the airdrop claim function, which interrupted Season 4 partway through. Analysts later criticised some lending-market curators who had accepted USR as collateral without adequate safeguards, because bad debt spread into those markets.
The recovery plan and what holders received
In May 2026 the Resolv Foundation published its recovery framework, based on a snapshot at Ethereum block 24710030, the moment of the incident:
- USR and wstUSR held before the exploit could be exchanged for USDC at 1:1.
- USR acquired after the exploit was exchanged at 0.5 USDC per token.
- RLP, as the junior tranche, absorbed the losses. Its reference price was reset to 55% of the last pre-incident level, which worked out to about 0.71 USDC per RLP plus an allocation of RESOLV tokens.
- RESOLV for recovery. 10% of total RESOLV supply was set aside for compensation, about 70% of it for affected RLP holders, priced at a reference of $0.03. Allocations above 10,000 RESOLV vest monthly over 24 months from June 27, 2026.
- KYC. Claims above 10,000 USDC in any recovery category required identity verification.
Claims ran through the portal at app.resolv.xyz/recovery. The original window closed on August 26, 2026 and was extended to September 26, 2026, which has now passed. RESOLV staking and its reward distribution resumed on May 26, 2026. If you believe you missed a valid claim, the documented contact is recovery@resolv.im; do not rely on anyone offering to “process” it for you.

Where Resolv is heading: Vault Street
Alongside the recovery plan, the foundation announced Vault Street, a new business line focused on tokenised real-world assets and structured income products. Its first product, primeUSD, entered private testing aimed at institutional investors, using stablecoins to access leveraged U.S. bond yield strategies. The recovery documentation describes USR returned through the portal as being burned, and the foundation’s messaging presents Vault Street as “a new chapter” rather than a straight relaunch of the old stablecoin.
At the time of writing, Resolv has not announced a Season 5 or any new points program, and we could not find a published final distribution for the interrupted Season 4. Treat any claim that a new season is live as unverified until it appears in docs.resolv.xyz and on the official X account.
Practical steps if you were a Resolv user
- Check what you still hold. Look for USR, wstUSR, RLP and RESOLV on Ethereum and any chain you bridged to. Remaining USR or RLP is not redeemable through the closed portal.
- Look for vesting RESOLV. If your compensation exceeded 10,000 RESOLV, part of it is vesting monthly. Use the official app to see what has unlocked.
- Review approvals. The recovery flow asked users to approve USR and RLP transfers. Revoke allowances you no longer need.
- Exit lending positions carefully. Some third-party markets that listed USR were left with bad debt. Their own recovery processes are separate from Resolv’s.
- If you stake RESOLV, confirm current reward terms in the app rather than relying on pre-exploit figures.
Risks this episode made concrete
- Off-chain key risk. The minting authority sat in a single cloud-hosted key. A stablecoin is only as safe as the weakest permission that can create it.
- Tranche risk. RLP’s high points rate came with first-loss exposure, and RLP holders took a haircut of around 45% plus payment partly in a volatile token.
- Points-driven leverage. Looping USR in lending markets to multiply points spread the damage to curators and lenders who never held RLP.
- Token-denominated compensation. Being paid in RESOLV at a fixed reference price means the real value of the compensation depends on the token’s market price, which may differ from $0.03.
- KYC thresholds. Larger claims required identity checks, which excluded some users who were unwilling or unable to complete them.
Avoiding fake Resolv recovery and airdrop pages
- Official domains are resolv.xyz and its subdomains (app.resolv.xyz, docs.resolv.xyz). The recovery email domain is resolv.im. Lookalikes such as “resolv-recovery”, “resolvlabs-claim” or “resolv.finance” are not official.
- The official X account is @ResolvLabs. Fake accounts with similar avatars promote “late recovery claims” and “Season 5 checkers”.
- The recovery window closed on September 26, 2026. A page offering to reopen it, or to pay out remaining RLP at full value, is a scam.
- No legitimate process asks for a seed phrase, a fee in ETH to “release” USDC, or approval of tokens unrelated to Resolv.
FAQ
Can I still earn Resolv points?
No new season has been announced since the exploit interrupted Season 4. Check the docs before assuming any program is running.
I missed the recovery deadline. What now?
The documented contact is recovery@resolv.im. There is no public late-claim route, so be wary of anyone claiming to have one.
Why did RLP holders get less than USR holders?
RLP was designed as the junior, first-loss tranche. Its higher yield and points rate were the compensation for exactly this scenario.
Is USR still a working stablecoin?
The protocol was paused and redeemed USR is being burned. The foundation’s focus has shifted to Vault Street; check official channels for any statement on USR’s future.
Verdict
Resolv is a case study in how attractive points programs can hide concentrated risk. The recovery treated senior holders reasonably well and pushed the losses onto RLP, as the design intended. For reward seekers there is nothing to farm at the moment, and anything presented as a new Resolv claim deserves deep suspicion. This article is not financial advice.
