Ethena Rewards 2026: How to Track Sats, Pendle Activity, and Claim Safety

Ethena Rewards 2026: How to Track Sats, Pendle Activity, and Claim Safety

Ethena’s Sats campaigns shaped how a whole cycle of DeFi users thought about “farming”. For more than two years, holding USDe, staking ENA or buying Pendle yield tokens earned Sats that converted into ENA airdrops each season. That era has now reached a turning point: Ethena has announced that all token incentives tied to USDe growth end on September 30, 2026. This guide explains how the Sats system worked, where each season landed, what the shutdown means for Pendle positions and sUSDe, and how to avoid the claim scams that tend to follow any final distribution.

What Ethena is: USDe, sUSDe and ENA

Ethena issues USDe, a synthetic dollar. Instead of holding bank deposits, the protocol holds crypto assets such as ETH and BTC, plus liquid stablecoins, and opens matching short perpetual futures positions on exchanges. The long spot and the short perp cancel out price exposure, so the position is roughly dollar-neutral. The backing is held with off-exchange custodians rather than on the exchanges themselves.

When you stake USDe you receive sUSDe. Revenue from funding rates and from yield on backing assets flows into the staking contract and raises the value of sUSDe over time; there is no separate reward token to claim. Unstaking sUSDe on Ethena’s own app involves a cooldown period.

ENA is the governance token. Staked ENA, called sENA, has been one of the main ways to earn Sats, and governance has discussed a fee switch that would direct protocol revenue toward ENA holders once certain conditions are met.

How Sats worked

Sats were Ethena’s points. Every eligible position earned Sats daily, scaled by a multiplier that reflected how much Ethena wanted to encourage that activity. The structure stayed broadly similar across seasons:

  • Holding USDe in a wallet earned a base rate.
  • Locking or staking ENA as sENA earned Sats and, in several seasons, boosted rewards elsewhere.
  • Liquidity pools on DEXs such as Curve and others that paired USDe earned higher multipliers.
  • Money markets such as Aave and Morpho, where USDe or sUSDe was supplied, earned their own multipliers.
  • Pendle positions often carried the highest effective multipliers.

Plain sUSDe usually earned little or no Sats on its own, because its holders already received the protocol yield. That trade-off – yield or points – was a defining feature of the program.

Why Pendle mattered so much

On Pendle, a yield-bearing asset is split into a principal token (PT) and a yield token (YT). For USDe and sUSDe markets, the YT holder received the underlying yield and the Sats attached to the full position until maturity. Because a YT is cheap relative to the notional amount it controls, buying YT was a leveraged bet on points: you earned Sats on a large notional for a small outlay, but the YT decays toward zero at maturity. PT holders, by contrast, gave up the Sats in exchange for a fixed return. Pendle LP positions sat in between and also earned Sats.

Many people lost money on YT by overpaying for Sats that later converted to fewer dollars of ENA than expected. With incentives now ending, any YT maturing after September 30 no longer carries future Sats.

Season by season

  • Season 1 (Shards) ended with the ENA launch in April 2024 and distributed 5% of ENA supply.
  • Seasons 2 to 4 ran on Sats, each with a smaller share of supply than Season 1. Season 2’s airdrop arrived in September 2024, and Season 4, which ended in September 2025, paid out several weeks later.
  • Season 5 ran from September 25, 2025 to March 25, 2026 and allocated 2% of ENA supply, around 300 million ENA. Claims opened on May 5, 2026 for roughly a month. The largest recipients had half of their allocation vested linearly over six months; the rest unlocked at claim.
  • Season 6 began on March 26, 2026 with similar mechanics.

Alongside Season 5, Ethena launched a separate Exchange Points program in early 2026 for trading on Ethereal and HyENA, two perpetual-futures venues that use USDe as margin. It distributed a fixed number of points per week over a six-month run.

The end of USDe incentives

In late September 2026 Ethena confirmed that token incentives and the associated ENA inflation linked to USDe growth would stop on September 30, 2026, saying that from October 1 there would be no token incentives at all. Ethena noted that incentives had already fallen by about 85% since the 2024 airdrop, so the change formalises a long decline rather than cutting off a large stream overnight.

Two things are worth separating:

  • sUSDe yield continues. It now depends on funding rates and backing-asset yield alone, so it rises and falls with market conditions.
  • Sats accrual stops. At the time of writing, Ethena has not published final distribution terms for Sats earned in Season 6 up to the cutoff. Watch the official app and @ethena_labs for any Season 6 claim announcement rather than assuming a date.

A governance proposal also ties ENA buybacks to USDe supply thresholds, with the mechanism set to activate only once USDe supply exceeds a defined level. That is a governance matter, not an airdrop.

What to check now if you were farming Sats

  1. Open the Ethena app from ethena.fi and connect the wallets you used. Note your Season 6 Sats balance as shown there.
  2. Review Pendle positions. If you hold YT on a USDe or sUSDe market, its value now rests only on the underlying yield until maturity. Decide whether to keep or sell it on Pendle’s own app.
  3. Review money market and LP positions you held only for multipliers. Without Sats, compare the remaining yield against the risk.
  4. Check vesting from Season 5. If you were among the largest recipients, part of your allocation may still be vesting; the claim interface shows what is unlocked.
  5. Decide on sENA. Staked ENA no longer earns USDe-linked Sats. Consider governance participation and any fee-switch outcome on their own merits.
  6. Keep sUSDe only if you want the floating yield, and remember the unstaking cooldown when planning liquidity.

Risks specific to Ethena positions

  • Negative funding. USDe’s yield comes largely from funding rates. In prolonged bearish periods funding can turn negative, which lowers sUSDe yield and draws on Ethena’s reserve fund.
  • Exchange and custody exposure. Hedges sit on centralised exchanges and backing sits with custodians. Ethena documents these risks in detail; a failure at a major venue could affect backing.
  • Depeg in secondary markets. USDe has traded below $1 on some venues during stress. If you use it as collateral in a loop, a temporary depeg can trigger liquidations even if redemption backing holds.
  • Pendle YT decay. YT goes to zero at maturity. Without Sats, its value is only the yield it earns before then.
  • Regulatory status. USDe is a synthetic dollar, not a fiat-backed stablecoin, and regulators in some jurisdictions have treated it differently from payment stablecoins. Minting and redeeming directly is restricted to approved, verified entities.

How to spot fake Ethena claim pages

  • Domains. Ethena’s domains are ethena.fi and its subdomains (app, docs, claim), plus ethenafoundation.com for governance. Lookalikes such as ethena-fi.app, ethenafi.org or ethena.claims are not Ethena.
  • “Final airdrop” bait. The end of incentives is exactly the kind of news scammers use. A “Season 6 final claim” link that does not appear on ethena.fi and @ethena_labs should be ignored.
  • Signatures and approvals. A genuine ENA claim is a straightforward claim transaction. A request for unlimited approval of USDe, sUSDe or ENA, or a Permit signature, is a drainer.
  • Pendle impersonation. Fake Pendle pages offering to “migrate YT” after the incentives end are another likely angle. Use pendle.finance from a bookmark.
  • X replies and DMs. Impersonator accounts with near-identical names often reply to Ethena announcements with links.

FAQ

Can I still earn Sats?

No. Ethena ended USDe-linked token incentives on September 30, 2026, so there is no new Sats accrual after that date.

Will Season 6 Sats be paid out?

Ethena has not published final Season 6 distribution terms at the time of writing. Check the Ethena app and @ethena_labs.

Does sUSDe still pay yield?

Yes. sUSDe yield comes from protocol revenue and continues, but it varies with funding rates and is not guaranteed.

What happens to my Pendle YT?

It keeps receiving the underlying yield until maturity, but no longer carries Sats after the cutoff, so its value is likely to reflect that.

How much did Season 5 distribute?

Two percent of ENA supply, about 300 million ENA, with half of the largest allocations vested over six months.

Verdict

Ethena’s Sats program is over as a source of new rewards, and what remains is a synthetic dollar with a floating yield and a governance token whose value depends on the protocol’s revenue. If you held positions for points, now is the time to reassess them on yield and risk alone, and to wait for any Season 6 news from ethena.fi rather than following links on social media.
