Jupiter built its name as Solana’s swap aggregator, then added perpetuals, a liquid staking token and a stablecoin. Jupiter Lend is the piece that ties those products together: a money market where SOL, stablecoins and staking tokens can be supplied, borrowed against, and, since the v2 upgrade, put to work as DEX liquidity at the same time. Many users approach it hoping lending activity will count toward a future JUP airdrop. This guide looks at what Jupiter Lend actually pays today, what the 2026 Jupuary decision means for that hope, and which risks are particular to this product.
What Jupiter Lend is
Jupiter Lend is a lending and borrowing protocol on Solana developed together with Fluid, the team behind a well-known money-market design on Ethereum. Fluid’s architecture uses a shared liquidity layer: deposits from many vaults sit in one underlying pool, and borrowing demand from different markets draws on that pool. Liquidations are handled by a swap-based engine that unwinds risky positions in small increments rather than seizing large chunks of collateral at once, which is what allows some correlated pairs to support very high loan-to-value ratios.
The product went into private beta in early August 2025 with more than 40 vaults, then opened to the public. Third-party research reports that deposits passed $1 billion within about eight days and that Jupiter Lend took roughly a third of Solana’s lending market within its first months. You reach it from the main jup.ag app under the Lend section, and Jupiter’s guides and docs are linked from Jupiter Station.

The three ways to use it
- Earn. Supply a single asset, such as USDC, USDT or SOL, and receive the variable lending rate. There is no borrowing and therefore no liquidation risk on this side, though you still carry smart-contract and asset risk.
- Borrow. Deposit collateral into a specific vault and borrow another asset against it. Each vault has its own collateral factor and liquidation threshold. Correlated pairs, for example a SOL liquid staking token against SOL, allow much higher LTVs than uncorrelated pairs like SOL against USDC.
- Multiply. A looping product that repeatedly borrows and re-supplies to build a leveraged position in one transaction. It magnifies both yield and liquidation risk.
Jupiter Lend has also added collateral types that are unusual on Solana. Reports from Solana-focused outlets describe support for natively staked SOL as collateral, which lets stakers borrow without first converting into a liquid staking token, and in January 2026 Jupiter’s own stablecoin, JupUSD, was added as both collateral and a borrowable asset.
Lend v2: Smart Collateral and Smart Debt
In August 2026 Jupiter launched Lend v2. The headline change is that a single position can now earn from more than one source:
- Smart Collateral takes a deposit of USDC, USDT, SOL or JupSOL and places it into a correlated liquidity pair. The deposit then earns lending yield, a share of trading fees and, for staking tokens, staking rewards.
- Smart Debt lets the borrowed side of a position act as DEX liquidity as well, so trading fees offset part of the borrowing cost.
Both features are optional, and the classic Earn and Borrow vaults remain. The trade-off is complexity. A Smart Collateral position is exposed to the behaviour of the liquidity pair it sits in, so read the vault description before choosing it over a plain deposit.
How rewards on Jupiter Lend work today
Jupiter Lend does not run a points program. What it does have is incentive APY. At beta launch, Jupiter, Fluid and partner projects funded over $1 million in rewards across vaults, and a further ecosystem incentive pool was announced in late 2025. These show up in the interface as an additional rate on top of the base lending yield, and they are paid out according to the terms shown on each vault. They change often, so the number you see one week is not a promise for the next.
The bigger question for many readers is Jupuary, Jupiter’s annual JUP airdrop. A 2026 edition was proposed with 700 million JUP across an initial airdrop, a bonus pool for stakers and incentives for Jupiter’s upcoming network. In February 2026 the Jupiter DAO voted for a “net-zero emissions” option instead, with around three quarters of the votes, and the 700 million JUP went back to a community multisig. Only a future DAO vote can release those tokens. At the time of writing, no Jupuary distribution has been scheduled, and nothing official says that Lend usage will be weighted in one.
The JUP reward that is live is Active Staking Rewards (ASR): 50 million JUP per quarter to people who stake JUP and vote in DAO proposals, calculated on a time-weighted average stake. ASR is tied to staking and governance at vote.jup.ag, not to lending. Claims open at jup.ag/rewards during limited windows.

Getting started on Jupiter Lend
- Open jup.ag directly. Type the address or use a saved bookmark, then choose Lend from the navigation.
- Connect a Solana wallet. Phantom, Solflare, Backpack and Jupiter’s own wallet all work. Keep enough SOL for transaction fees.
- Start in Earn. Supply a modest amount of a stablecoin or SOL and watch how the rate and any incentive APY move over a few days.
- If you borrow, pick the vault deliberately. Check the max LTV, liquidation threshold and liquidation penalty for that vault. Borrow well below the maximum; a correlated pair at 90% LTV can still be liquidated if one side depegs.
- Read Smart Collateral terms before switching. Make sure you understand which pool your deposit joins and how withdrawals work from it.
- Track your positions. The Lend dashboard shows your health factor. Set yourself a level at which you add collateral or repay, rather than reacting in the middle of a market move.
Risks particular to Jupiter Lend
- High-LTV liquidation. The liquidation engine is designed to be gentle, but high-LTV vaults leave little room. A short depeg of a liquid staking token or a stablecoin can push a position over the threshold.
- Shared liquidity. Because many vaults draw on one liquidity layer, heavy borrowing in one market can raise rates or reduce available withdrawals in another. Very high utilisation can delay exits for lenders.
- Composability layers. Smart Collateral and Smart Debt combine a money market with DEX liquidity. More moving parts mean more code paths and more ways for a position to behave unexpectedly.
- New collateral types. Natively staked SOL, JupUSD and partner staking tokens each bring their own risks, from validator performance to stablecoin backing.
- Incentive dependence. Part of the advertised APY is paid in incentive tokens. When incentives end, the headline yield can drop sharply.
Avoiding fake Jupiter Lend and JUP claim pages
Jupiter is one of the most impersonated brands on Solana because Jupuary trained millions of users to expect a claim every January. Keep these points in mind:
- The official domain is jup.ag. Lend lives inside it. Lookalikes such as “jup-ag”, “jupiter-lend”, “jup.claims” or “jupuary” domains are not official.
- The official X accounts are @JupiterExchange and @jup_dao. Replies under their posts are crowded with fake “claim” links from look-alike handles.
- Jupuary 2026 was postponed by DAO vote. A site saying “Jupuary 2026 is live, check your allocation” is a scam unless Jupiter announces a new vote result on its own channels.
- Jupiter Lend rewards accrue inside the app. You never need to sign a message on another site to “unlock” them.
- Be careful with Solana transaction simulations that show your whole token balance leaving the wallet. Reject and close the tab.
FAQ
Does using Jupiter Lend qualify me for a JUP airdrop?
There is no official statement that it does. Jupuary 2026 was postponed by DAO vote, and any future distribution would come with its own published criteria.
What is the difference between Earn and Borrow?
Earn is a single-asset deposit that collects interest with no liquidation risk. Borrow uses collateral to take a loan and can be liquidated if your health factor falls too low.
Is Smart Collateral better than a normal deposit?
It can earn more because it adds trading fees, but it also adds exposure to the liquidity pair. It suits users who understand that pool, not everyone.
Where do I claim JUP staking rewards?
Active Staking Rewards are claimed at jup.ag/rewards during announced windows. They depend on staking and voting, not on lending.
Verdict
Jupiter Lend is a serious lending market with a distinctive design and real usage, and v2 gives experienced users more ways to make capital work. As an airdrop play it is weak at the moment: the 2026 Jupuary was shelved and lending is not part of any announced criteria. Use it if borrowing or earning on Solana is something you already want, keep LTVs conservative, and treat any “claim” link outside jup.ag as hostile. Nothing here is financial advice.
