Initia VIP Rewards 2026: How to Track App Activity and Avoid Fake Claim Routes

Initia VIP Rewards 2026: How to Track App Activity and Avoid Fake Claim Routes

Initia’s airdrop is long finished. What is left, and what many readers really want to know about, is VIP, the Vested Interest Program. VIP is not a one-off drop with a checker page. It is a standing incentive system that pays INIT, in escrowed form, to people who use the rollups built on Initia. It also comes with a catch that surprises many first-time earners: the rewards only fully unlock if you keep using the app that paid them. This guide explains how VIP actually works, what you need to do to earn and vest esINIT, and how to avoid the fake “Initia claim” pages that still circulate.

What Initia is, in one paragraph

Initia is a layer 1 built to coordinate a network of application-specific rollups, which it calls Interwoven Rollups (early material calls them Minitias). Each rollup can run EVM, MoveVM or WasmVM. All of them use the L1 for security, bridging, liquidity and governance. The INIT token secures the L1 and is used in governance. It also anchors Enshrined Liquidity, a design where whitelisted INIT:TOKEN liquidity pool positions on InitiaDEX can be staked directly with validators. Mainnet went live in April 2025. The official site is initia.xyz, the technical documentation is at docs.initia.xyz, and the user-facing app is app.initia.xyz.

The INIT airdrop is closed, and VIP is something else

The launch airdrop gave out 50 million INIT, which is 5% of the 1 billion supply. About 89.46% of it, roughly 44.7 million INIT, went to testnet participants. Smaller pieces went to users of partner networks and to social contributors. Claims had a 30-day window after mainnet, and that window closed in May 2025. There is no second round of that airdrop, and nothing on Initia’s official channels suggests one.

VIP is funded from a much larger pool. Initia set aside about 25% of the total supply for VIP and paces it out over several years in reward stages. So when someone today talks about “earning Initia rewards,” they mean VIP esINIT, not the closed airdrop. Any page that offers a fresh “INIT airdrop claim” is not describing anything Initia runs.

How VIP rewards flow from the L1 to your wallet

VIP has two layers. First, Initia decides how much each rollup gets. Then each rollup decides how much each of its users gets.

Layer one: rollups compete for the stage budget

Each stage’s reward budget is split into two pools. The ratio is a governance parameter called poolSplitRatio.

  • Balance Pool. A rollup’s share is based on how much INIT is locked in its OPinit bridge compared with all other VIP rollups. Bridging INIT into a rollup and keeping it there helps that rollup’s share.
  • Weight Pool. This pool is split by gauge voting, similar to Curve’s model. INIT stakers and Enshrined Liquidity stakers vote on gauge weights for the next stage, and the rollups with more votes get more. Voting happens on the Gauge Vote page in the Initia app (app.initia.xyz/vip/gauge).

To be eligible at all, a rollup must pass an L1 governance whitelisting vote and hold at least the minimum INIT TVL. A whitelisted rollup that drops below that threshold gets no rewards until it recovers. The rollup operator also sets a commission rate, which takes a cut of the rollup’s allocation before users are paid. The docs allow that rate to change only gradually, stage by stage.

Layer two: rollups score their own users

Each rollup publishes its own scoring method and writes user scores on-chain through a vip_score contract. A lending rollup might score the value you borrowed. A DEX might score volume and liquidity. A game might score in-game transactions. The rules set limits on what can be scored. Scores must come from on-chain activity, so referrals and social posts do not count. Rewarding plain token holdings or generic DEX liquidity is not allowed, while productive assets such as liquid staking tokens can be counted. At the end of each stage a VIP agent, chosen by L1 governance, takes a snapshot of the finalized scores. Your reward is your score divided by the rollup’s total score, multiplied by what the rollup gets after commission.

After scores are finalized, a challenge period begins. Anyone can dispute a rollup’s scoring through an expedited governance proposal. If the challenge succeeds, the scoring agent can be replaced and the stage recalculated. This has real precedent. Early in the program, governance proposal 41 redeployed a Stage 2 scoring contract after a bug recorded every user’s score as zero. The scoring rules themselves did not change.

esINIT: why your rewards can shrink if you walk away

VIP pays out esINIT, an escrowed, non-transferable form of INIT. You can turn it into usable INIT in two ways.

  1. Keep your VIP score up. esINIT vests in slices over a set number of stages. The docs’ example uses 26 stages, so 1/26 per stage. To vest a full slice, your score in the following stage must reach a target. The target is your original score multiplied by a governance-set threshold factor (the docs’ worked example uses 0.5). If you fall short, you vest only part of the slice, in proportion to how close you came. In the docs’ example, a score of 30 against a target of 50 vests 60%.
  2. Zap into a locked LP position. Instead of vesting, you can convert esINIT into a lock-staked INIT:TOKEN position on InitiaDEX, using a pair whitelisted for Enshrined Liquidity. You supply the other token. Through VIP the minimum lock is 26 weeks. That locked position stakes with validators and gives you gauge voting power, so you can vote on the Weight Pool.

This design is why “farm and leave” strategies do badly on Initia. If you rack up a big score in one stage and then stop, you lock in esINIT that mostly never vests. The program rewards steady use of the same rollup over many stages.

Which rollups count, and why that list changes

The VIP page in the Initia app is the authoritative list of rollups that are whitelisted and receiving rewards. Treat any third-party list as a starting point only. The lineup changes through governance. Early VIP participants included Echelon (a money market) and Yominet (the chain behind the on-chain game Kamigotchi). There have also been proposals to add The Cabal, a liquid staking and vote-coordination protocol that holds a large share of VIP voting power. Rollups also leave. Governance has removed MilkyWay (proposal 75), Embr (proposal 87) and Rave (proposal 89) after those projects wound down or went quiet. In Rave’s case, the proposal said rewards already earned stay claimable and keep vesting on the L1. Future allocations stop, though. If your esINIT relies on keeping up a score in a rollup that is being retired, you will not be able to vest it that way. That leaves the LP zap as the practical option for that balance.

Before you commit time to a rollup, read its scoring proposal. Whitelisting proposals have to publish the full scoring method. That tells you exactly which actions count and whether the activity suits you.

A practical route into VIP

  1. Open the real app. Type app.initia.xyz yourself rather than clicking links from replies or DMs. Connect through the built-in wallet flow. Initia’s wallet supports common EVM wallets and offers optional auto-signing for app sessions. Only enable auto-signing on apps you trust, and remember you can revoke it later from the wallet settings.
  2. Bridge in a modest amount. Use the bridge and deposit tools in the app to move INIT or supported assets onto the L1 and then into the rollup you plan to use. INIT left on a rollup’s bridge also adds to that rollup’s Balance Pool share.
  3. Pick one or two rollups whose activity you would do anyway. A borrower might pick a lending rollup. A player might pick a game rollup. Spreading thinly across ten rollups makes it hard to keep up your score in any of them.
  4. Check your score and claimable esINIT on the VIP page after each stage. Note the target score you need to hit to vest the previous stage’s rewards.
  5. Decide on vesting or zapping. If you will keep using the rollup, vest by keeping your score up. If not, think about the LP lock, but read the risks below first.
  6. Use your gauge vote if you stake INIT or hold an Enshrined Liquidity position. Votes shape the next stage’s Weight Pool, and they cost nothing beyond the transaction.

Keep a simple note for each stage: which rollup you used, your score, the esINIT you received and what vested. The VIP page shows the current numbers, but your own record makes it easier to see whether the effort is worth it.

Costs and risks that are specific to Initia

  • Vesting decay. The biggest “hidden cost” is esINIT that never vests because your activity dropped. Count only vested INIT as income.
  • Rollup risk. Each rollup has its own operator, contracts and bridge. If a rollup is retired, you lose future rewards and may face a slower or more complicated withdrawal. Funds moved through an optimistic bridge can also face finalization delays on the way back to L1.
  • LP lock risk. Zapping esINIT into a 26-week (or longer) INIT:TOKEN lock exposes you to impermanent loss and to the price of both tokens, and you cannot exit early. The rewards are real, but so is the lock.
  • Price exposure. Rewards are paid in INIT, so their dollar value moves with the token. Large unlock schedules for VIP and other allocations add supply over time.
  • Governance concentration. Gauge votes decide much of the budget, and liquid-staking aggregators hold a large share of that voting power. Rollup allocations can shift sharply from one stage to the next.
  • Auto-sign permissions. Auto-signing makes app sessions smooth, but it is still a delegated permission. Revoke it on apps you no longer use.

How to spot fake Initia claim pages

Initia scams usually play on the gap between “the airdrop is over” and “VIP pays rewards.” Typical lures include a “Season 2 INIT airdrop,” an “esINIT to INIT instant unlock,” a “VIP bonus claim” that needs a wallet signature, and look-alike domains with extra words or swapped letters. Keep these points in mind:

  • Initia’s real domains are initia.xyz, app.initia.xyz and docs.initia.xyz. The official X account is @initia.
  • esINIT cannot be unlocked instantly by a third party. Vesting happens only through your VIP score or the Enshrined Liquidity zap, both inside the official app.
  • VIP rewards are claimed from the VIP page in the app. No legitimate VIP flow asks for your seed phrase or for a blanket token approval to an unknown contract.
  • Rollup teams have their own sites. Bookmark them from links on Initia’s ecosystem page, not from replies under popular posts.
  • If a “support agent” contacts you first on Discord or Telegram, assume it is a scam.

FAQ

Can I still claim the original INIT airdrop?

No. The 30-day claim window after the April 2025 mainnet launch has closed, and Initia has not announced another airdrop round.

Is esINIT the same as INIT?

No. esINIT is escrowed and non-transferable. It becomes INIT by vesting, which means keeping up your VIP score over later stages, or by converting into a locked Enshrined Liquidity position.

Does holding INIT in my wallet earn VIP rewards?

Not directly. VIP rewards come from activity scored by whitelisted rollups. Staking INIT earns staking rewards and gives you gauge votes, but it does not earn VIP esINIT by itself.

What happens to my rewards if a rollup leaves VIP?

Under the recent delisting proposals, rewards already earned stay claimable and keep vesting on the L1. New allocations stop. If you cannot keep up a score in that rollup anymore, the LP zap is the realistic way to put that esINIT to use.

Verdict

VIP is one of the more carefully designed reward programs in the industry. It is on-chain, open to challenge, and deliberately unfriendly to hit-and-run farming. That makes it a fair deal for people who would use an Initia rollup anyway, such as a lender on a money market or a regular player of an on-chain game. For people chasing a quick airdrop, it is a poor fit, because unvested esINIT simply fades. Choose one rollup whose activity you actually value, read its scoring proposal, track your target score each stage, and only claim from app.initia.xyz.
